St. Modwen has submitted an outline planning application for a new major employment development known as Avon Business Park, in Evesham.
The 50 acre site adjoins the existing Vale Business Park and could create up to 1,000 jobs once completed.
The UK’s leading regeneration specialist has submitted proposals to Wychavon District Council for 585,000 sq ft of space comprising warehouses, industrial units and offices together with supporting uses including a pub, restaurant, hotel and car showroom. Structural landscaping and planting will also be brought forward as part of the development.
The plans follow a public consultation held last November, where the local community were able to take a closer look at the proposals and submit comments. The response was positive at the event, with visitors welcoming the increased job opportunities and investment in the town.
Peter Rudd, Development Director at St. Modwen, said: “Following our Joint Venture agreement in 2013 with the landowners, we were successful in getting the land allocated as an employment site in the recently adopted South Worcestershire Development Plan. We have now followed this up with an outline planning application for a large employment-led scheme, including a new site entrance and landscaping.
“The proposed scheme represents significant investment in Evesham, creating new business premises and around 1,000 job opportunities in a high profile location whilst providing excellent transport links for potential occupiers via the A46 and the M5. We have already received some occupier interest before formal marketing of the site begins which bodes well for the future delivery of the site.”
Situated two miles south of Evesham town centre, the site fronts the A46. As part of the development, St Modwen will create a new site access, through the realignment of the existing roundabout on the A46.
