A multinational company specialising in the supply of automotive components has opened a new office in Coventry to be closer to one of its biggest clients.
BorgWarner has a new office at the University of Warwick Science Park’s Business Innovation Centre, in Binley.
The American-owned, Fortune 500 company, which has it’s UK Manufacturing and R&D facility in Bradford, West Yorkshire, has moved into the Science Park to be closer one of its major customers, Jaguar Land Rover.
The company has 25,000 staff based around the world and specialises in developing and manufacturing automotive components focused on fuel economy and emissions reduction.
It is a supplier to all of the world’s vehicle manufacturers and had sales of $8.3 billion in 2014.
Tony Allen, BorgWarner UK’s Managing Director, said: “Our new Coventry office will be utilised by our applications engineers, design engineers and sales people from multiple divisions.
“They will support our development work with Jaguar Land Rover on multiple turbocharger, emissions control and powertrain systems.
“We chose an office at the Science Park for the primary reason that it is within five minutes of the two main Jaguar Land Rover sites in Coventry.
“There is a lot of interaction between us, so it was important that we had somewhere convenient to conduct technical meetings.”
Tony added: “The office has a professional feel which is very important and being based at the Business Innovation Centre gives us flexibility on space should we need to expand in the coming years.”
Penny Robb, manager of the University of Warwick Science Park’s Business Innovation Centre, said she is delighted to welcome such a high-profile firm to centre.
She said: “BorgWarner is a hugely successful multinational company and it is great news that they have chosen to open their Coventry office with us at the Business Innovation Centre.
“Our location means that they are close to Jaguar Land Rover but they have also chosen us because of the flexibility we can offer and the quality of space here. We look forward to working with the company to help facilitate any expansion plans they may have in the future.”
