Two Worcester property experts will have no chance to get cold feet ahead of their latest charity challenge, as they prepare to walk over hot coals to raise money for a local cause.
Charlotte Fullard, senior surveyor, and Maxine Clarke, assistant property manager, from Halls Commercial will be taking part in a firewalk to raise money for a Worcestershire charity Sight Concern.
The fundraising event, organised by the charity in conjunction with the University of Worcester Students’ Union, will see the brave ladies walk bare foot over 20 feet of hot embers. They hope to raise a minimum of £200 between them, which will go towards Sight Concern’s work providing support, information and services to people affected by sight loss.
Charlotte said: “We wanted to do something for a local worthy cause and I’ve always been intrigued as to how on earth fire walking is possible. The information booklet said ‘If you can do this, you can do anything’, which sounded pretty convincing!”
It’s not the first time that Charlotte has put herself to the test in aid of charity. Last year, she cycled 400 kilometres across the Kenyan landscape to raise more than £5,000 for victims of breast, cervical and ovarian cancer.
Fiona Blake, fundraising manager for Sight Concern Worcestershire, said: “We are really excited that Worcester’s first firewalk event is inspiring students and members of the local business community to take part. We have 60 firewalkers signed up so far, which means we should be on target to raise a substantial amount for the charity.”
The Firewalk Challenge will take place on Tuesday 27th March at the University of Worcester, St. John’s campus, Henwick Grove.
