Leading national independent engineering consultancy Morgan Tucker has appointed Jean-Paul Skoczylas (MEng) as principal water engineer to the civils team at its expanding London office.
With almost a decade of international experience in water engineering, Jean-Paul Skoczylas’ career to date has spanned three continents including the Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
He joins Morgan Tucker’s London water team after a three year spell in Rwanda, as managing director and principal engineer of his own consultancy – Water Consulting East Africa, where he worked on multiple drainage, flood defence and wet utility design projects with international agencies, NGOs and private companies including USAID, UNICEF, IFC, Bechtel and the Rwanda Ministry of Agriculture.
His experience in wet utility and hydraulic design was developed in roles at Halcrow and CH2M Hill, spanning multi-billion pound construction projects including Lusail – Qatari Diar, Qatar a 35km2 $30 billion project designing a potable water network and Yas Island – Aldar, UAE, where his expertise were involved in the master planning, design and construction support of the pressure networks of a 2,500 hectare, $45 billion project.
Speaking about his new role, Jean-Paul Skoczylas, said: “After eight years overseas, it was time for my wife and I to move back to the UK and settle down. I was looking for an opportunity to utilise my international experience, which also provided a variety of projects and scope to help me grow and develop in the future. Morgan Tucker is the perfect choice for that, as it has a strong basis in drainage and flooding design, with real ambition for future development and growth, so I’m hoping to build on that as well as branch out into other specialists areas including surge, water hammer and irrigation.”
The role will be in the water section of the London-based civils team, focusing on flooding and drainage design, working with a mixture of clients including commercial developers as well as local authorities.
The appointment of Cambridge graduate Jean-Paul Skoczylas, brings the water section of Morgan Tucker’s civils team up to eight. There are further expansion planned over the next few months, in line with the firm’s ambitious growth targets.
