Wake Smith Solicitors which has its headquarters in Sheffield has completed 30 million pounds of corporate deals in the second quarter of 2016.
The high profile Q2 deals include; acting for the shareholders in the sale of Goldthorpe-based Granville Oil and Chemicals Limited to Tide Water Oil Co (India) Ltd, acting for the shareholders in the sale of Frogson Waste Management Limited to Hampshire-based CSG Group and the management buy in of a niche law practice.
The company highlighted seven other transactions which completed in the same period, bringing the total deal value to 30 million pounds and incorporating a mix of purchases, sales and reorganisations from a wide variety of sectors ranging from Aggregates to IT Systems.
John Baddeley, director at Wake Smith, said: “We have completed a very successful run of high profile cases over the second quarter of this year and it is testament to the diligence of our corporate team that we have been able to step up and handle increasingly complex deals.
“Aside from the most notable cases, there have also been several refinancing of property portfolios involving both the corporate and property teams with a combined value of ten million pounds of funding.
“These property portfolios cover a mix of commercial properties, residential developments and student properties.
“This has been a very rewarding period for us and the firm has several deals still in the pipeline which we expect to complete over the next few months.”
The company commercial team at Wake Smith is headed by director Duncan Shepherd and includes fellow director John Baddeley, who is also a director for the Sheffield BID Company, associate solicitor Rebecca Robinson and solicitor Gavin Hesketh.
Wake Smith Solicitors moved its two former bases under one roof and into Sheffield’s city centre Velocity complex in January this year.
With an eye on the UK’s Brexit decision, directors at Wake Smith are looking forward with a cautious but optimistic view.
John Baddeley added: “It remains to be seen what effect Brexit may have on the appetite for deals once the current crop of transactional matters completes.
“It’s possible that deals with an international element may take longer to complete due to current state of flux over what international trade deals will be struck in the next few years by the UK, but we are well placed to look towards the future.”
Wake Smith has been established in Sheffield for more than 200 years and is one of the region’s leading legal practices, offering services for both personal and commercial clients.
