“The abolishing of DECC may be seen as the biggest single step away from concerted effort on Climate Change for a generation.
“Clearly, it has been limping along, under-resourced for too long. Mixed messages can do damage. ‘Slash and burn’ with regard to energy policy creates yet more uncertainty so soon after the positive announcement about the Fifth Carbon Budget. We can only hope this move is upgrading the status of energy policy within the government apparatus.”
