Shopping centre owner intu has opened an alfresco dining area in Bromley and extended its retailers’ opening hours in order to boost the night-time economy of London’s largest borough with a revitalised leisure and retail mix.
Retailers at intu Bromley have extended their opening hours until 7pm to attract the rise in visitors expected at the centre’s restaurant terrace where a range of casual dining brands including Wagamama, Byron, Giraffe, YO! Sushi and Carluccio’s are now open until 11pm. Car parks at the centre are also now open until midnight.
A number of aspirational retailers have recently opened in Bromley to take advantage of the centre’s annual 18 million footfall and prosperous customer base, with 90% of visitors drawn from the most affluent ABC1 socio-economic group across London and Kent.
The extension which is also the second UK site for American pizza brand Project Pie forms part of intu’s £600 million, 3 year development programme to bring new leisure facilities to its shopping centres across the country.
Rebecca Ryman, regional director of intu said: “intu Bromley’s new dining offer lies at the heart of our strategy to bring together a strong leisure and retail mix at all our centres, with similar leisure schemes driving a rapid rise in footfall, dwell time and customer and retailer demand.”
“I’m delighted that our retailers are embracing the improvements these new restaurant are set to bring intu Bromley’s trading by staying open later as this will attract new customers from further and for longer.”
Joules, Kuoni and Jo Malone are the latest retailers to sign up for space at intu Bromley where they join other high profile brands including White Stuff, Karen Millen, Thomas Sabo and Mac.
