Rigby Real Estate, part of the Rigby Group – the company behind Imperial Park – has appointed Bowmer & Kirkland to construct the three Grade ‘A’ distribution warehouses off Siskin Drive, totalling 575,000 sq ft which make up the development.
Imperial Park, which secured planning consent earlier this month, covers 29 acres and is strategically located just south of Coventry, approximately six miles from Junction 2 of the M6.
It will feature three buildings of 350,000 sq ft, 165,000 sq ft and 60,000 sq ft designed for the logistics and distribution industry.
The site was recently acquired by M&G Real Estate, one of the UK’s largest property investors, which is also funding the construction in a £50.6 million investment.
Andrew Cox, of Rigby Real Estate, said that work was expected to start in August.
He said: “We are delighted to be working with Bowmer & Kirkland who have a proven track record. With full planning consent now granted and the contractor in place, the development will move at a pace and is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2017.
“We have had strong interest in the units because the site is ideally situated for logistics operators and manufacturers and Imperial Park will make a very positive contribution the Coventry and Warwickshire, and wider regional economy.”
Bowmer & Kirkland has its headquarters in Derbyshire and regional construction offices in Manchester, Reading, Sunderland and Glasgow.
The company is currently constructing the £35 million, 13-storey, 150,000 sq ft headquarters for Coventry City Council at Friargate.
B&K Regional Director, John Clarke, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this contract by Rigby Real Estate and look forward to working closely with the Client and his team to successfully deliver this prestigious project”.
