Rupert Joseland, regional director for St. Modwen in the South West, comments on St. Modwen’s 2016 Half Year Results:
“2016 marks our 30th anniversary of being listed on the stock market and the first half of the year has delivered a strong performance for our 14 plus developments underway across the South West.
“Highlights across the region include our scheme at Access 18 in Avonmouth, where we have recently delivered a bespoke distribution unit for Hermes Parcelnet Ltd and sold a speculative industrial unit to Kent Foods.
“At Skypark in Exeter, following on from our recent completion of the site’s road infrastructure, we have planning consent to deliver state-of-the-art new office space in line with market demand. While in Wiltshire, we’ve just signed a Development Agreement to deliver a new 79 acre site, with up to 1m sq ft of warehousing space at Chippenham Gateway, adjacent to junction 17 of the M4.
“Elsewhere in the region, we are close to a final decision on our revised outline master plan for the £105m Firepool scheme in Taunton, which will see one of the biggest mixed-use schemes delivered in the area over the next decade. While outline planning consent to complete the remaining phases, through one continuous rolling schedule of work, at our flagship £400m Locking Parklands in Weston-super-Mare is gathering pace. Work is underway by St. Modwen Homes to deliver 168 additional new homes, as part of the 1,450 in total being delivered on site.
“This strong base provides us the resource with which to strengthen our portfolio in the region and we will continue to seek new opportunities where we can add value throughout the second half of the year and beyond.”
