Investment management firm, Brewin Dolphin, has announced an addition to its fast growing 27 person team.
Russell Hooper, 44, originally from Port Talbot, has recently moved back to Wales and has joined the Cardiff office, as one of the company’s new investment managers. In his new role, Mr Hooper will be looking after a portfolio of the organisation’s existing private clients as well as developing and growing the company’s business by bringing new clients on board.
Having worked in leading financial management organisations such as Merrill Lynch, Mr Hooper brings with him a wealth of experience in advising fund managers and large asset management companies including Henderson, UBS Global, and Standard Life – expertise that will aid him in his new role.
On his appointment as an investment manager, Mr Hooper commented: “Having worked in the City for over 15 years, it’s great to be back in Wales. Cardiff is a fantastic place to live and my new role at Brewin Dolphin will mean I’ll be able to take full advantage of a great work-life balance – something which is really important to me and my family but also very rare to achieve in this line of work.
“As an organisation Brewin Dolphin has an excellent reputation and is known for its heritage, credentials and outstanding attention to detail. I’m thrilled to be part of a fast growing and dynamic team. Plus, the move from advising fund managers to providing recommendations on making solid investments to private clients is much more satisfying – I love making my clients money. It’s very rewarding to see that the advice you provide clients with, works for them and ultimately makes their money grow. Furthermore, I really enjoy the personal client interaction which enables you to establish long term relationships and build on Brewin Dolphin’s main trait – loyalty.”
David Myrddin-Evans, Divisional Director and Head of the Cardiff Office added: “Russell is a highly skilled individual and has a breadth of knowledge about the global stock and bond market which is the exact level of expertise that we look for in our staff. This ensures that our clients are provided with top quality advice. I have no doubt that he will excel in his new role.”
With the new enterprise zones announced by the Welsh Government, Brewin Dolphin is seeing a number of individuals who started their career in the City aiming to move back to Wales.
Mr Myrddin-Evans concluded: “We strive to take care of all our clients and our employees. As an organisation we firmly believe in being fair with our staff and as such this includes respecting what’s important to them outside of work. We’re delighted that Brewin Dolphin can provide individuals like Russell with the fast paced career progression that London offers here in Cardiff, coupled with the great opportunities for achieving that elusive work-life balance.”
