Leading Scottish property consultancy, CKD Galbraith, has expanded its building surveying department with the appointment of James Towers.
James joins the firm as a new graduate building surveying trainee having recently gained a first class honours degree from Edinburgh Napier University.
Originally from Grantown-on-Spey, James will be based in CKD Galbraith’s Edinburgh office supporting the teams in the capital as well as Stirling and working across the commercial, rural and residential sectors of the business.
The firm will be providing structured training to assist James throughout his APC (Assessment of Professional Competence) to gain his Membership to the RICS membership.
Commenting on his appointment, James Towers said: “At University I studied all aspects of building surveying from conservation to cost analysis. Whilst my degree course provided the foundations from which I can now expand upon, it also allowed me to develop an interest and expertise in certain aspects of the industry. I developed a real passion for listed buildings, so much so that I recently completed a Summer School programme with Historic Scotland to learn more about stone masonry techniques.”
“My new graduate trainee role at CKD Galbraith is a fantastic opportunity. It will allow me to put my degree into practice and gain invaluable hands-on experience of the building surveying world across a variety of sectors. I am already working with the team conducting surveys on behalf of Scottish Water and relish the opportunity to get involved in as many diverse aspects of the job as possible.”
Martin Cassels, partner and head of CKD Galbraith’s building surveying department, said: “The appointment of James as a graduate trainee strengthens our prominent position in the Scottish building surveying sector. As a firm we only recruit the best graduates and given that James has excellent academic ability combined with superb personal, business and communication skills, he will be a great addition to our dynamic and mixed sector surveying team.”
CKD Galbraith has a strong track-record in employing graduate trainees across all business departments and is committed to supporting the next generation of surveyors to flourish.
