A planning application for the second building in the Friargate development, submitted by Friargate Coventry LLP, has been approved by Coventry City Council.
At a meeting on Wednesday, Coventry City Council’s Planning Committee gave the go ahead for the second Grade A office building in the Friargate Masterplan. It has been designed by leading architectural practice Allies & Morrison and will sit alongside the new Coventry City Council building currently under construction.
The building will deliver new commercial space with a glazed pavilion at its top level, offering stunning views over the city in all directions. With floor plates from 11,000 sq ft, the building will also provide balconies with views over the brand new tree-lined public realm, which is being delivered as part of the development.
At only 80 metres from the train station, the striking 14-storey building will also have a double-height ground floor that will provide leisure space for a restaurant or cafe. This will create a lively frontage onto the newly opened pedestrian boulevard in Station Square, which has already hosted the Friargate Street Food market and proved a hit with the 17,000 people who use Coventry train station every day.

Sitting adjacent to Coventry Train Station and covering 37 acres, Friargate will create up to 15,000 jobs. Among the 25 new buildings to be delivered, will be 14 new office buildings, hotels, shops and restaurants in addition to new homes that will bring the community to life.
