Work is set to get underway on a new district centre in Hattersley, after Peak Valley Housing Association appoints the team who will deliver this significant regeneration project.
Bilfinger GVA has been retained as property advisors on the development of Hattersley District Centre. This follows the announcement this week that Peak Valley has appointed Maple Grove Developments, part of the Eric Wright Group, as preferred developer to deliver the 75,000 sq. ft. district centre.
The development, located just off the M67 at the junction of Stockport Road and Ashworth Lane, is a predominantly cleared brownfield site.
The scheme comprises a mix of units including an anchor store, drive-through restaurant and complimentary retail space.
Peak Valley Housing Association has been working closely with partners Tameside Council and the Homes and Communities Agency to deliver the scheme.
Phil Corris, managing director of Peak Valley Housing Association, said: “Today’s appointment of Maple Grove Developments to deliver the new district centre is a significant step forward in progressing the ongoing regeneration of the estate and raising the profile of Hattersley in Greater Manchester.”
Councillor Jim Fitzpatrick, Tameside Council’s First Deputy and Chair of Hattersley Land Board said “The new district centre will be a welcome investment and value to the community, generating job opportunities and enhancing retail choice for local residents, all of which will improve the long-term vitality and viability of Hattersley.”
Andrew Murphy, development manager at Maple Drove Developments, added: “We’re delighted to have been appointed for the scheme. We’ll soon begin preparing more detailed designs, which we’ll share with the community at the earliest opportunity.”
Ian Griffiths, Director at Bilfinger GVA said “We are pleased to have been retained to provide property advice during the delivery phase.”
