Commercial property agent Prop-Search has completed the disposal of the former Mercedes Benz High Performance Engineering Formula 1 complex at Quarry Road in Brixworth – now known as Brixworth Technology Park.
Comprising a 10 acre landscaped self-contained estate, the site is home to seven individually designed high specification buildings totalling some 84,000 sq ft, that housed the research and development of some of the most hi-tech engine and racing components on the planet.
Following the relocation of Mercedes Benz HPE to a new purpose-built facility just over the road, Prop-Search acquired the old site for clients and were retained by First Argyll in London commencing the marketing of the individual buildings to the ‘High Performance Engineering’ industry in 2011.
Prop-Search reports the deals agreed on site include the letting of 20,000 sq ft to the specialist fabrication company Fablink; the restructuring of occupational terms and expansion for Ilmor Engineering in some 53,400 sq ft and the sale of the prestigious 11,000 sq ft Pyramid building to specialist high performance super car designer and retailer Merdad.
In addition, on the surplus car park, planning permission has been secured for 15 houses, and the announcement of a sale to one of the national house-builders is imminent.
Prop-Search reports that the success in lettings at Brixworth are not just limited to the High Performance Sector and that there has been a marked improvement in the take up of commercial property over the last 12 months, with a total of nearly one million sq ft let or sold by the agency, within Northamptonshire.
