Fast-growing Sorenson Media has moved to larger new offices in Cathedral Road, Cardiff, to cope with current and planned expansion.
The technology company, which has its HQ in Salt Lake City in the USA, opened in Cardiff in 2013 and has grown to employ 48 people in the city in just three years. Sorenson received £1m staged funding support from the Welsh Government to help secure the inward investment for Wales.
Now it has taken a five year lease on 5,585 sq ft of offices at Carlyle House in Cathedral Road. It was advised in its move by Knight Frank. Landlord Baran Group was advised by Cushman & Wakefield and LSH.
Chris Liassides, general manager, said: “We had outgrown our offices at Atlantic Wharf and were keen to move to offices that we could be proud of – both for our employees and for visiting clients. It is a great office, very clean and bright and modern.”
Mark Sutton, partner at Knight Frank in Cardiff, said: “We have worked closely with Sorenson Media as its Cardiff business has grown and we needed to help them find a space that could be tailored for the different elements of the business.
“Cathedral Road is a good location for Sorenson, combining great parking and easy access to the city centre. Carlyle House was a good fit and is ideal for our client’s continued expansion in Cardiff. The length and nature of the search illustrated the difficulties that some occupiers experience in finding the right property and highlighted the need for expert advice.”
Sorenson Media operates in the field of next-generation television through its Spark platform, which provides television broadcasters with detailed viewing analytics, as well as personalisation and interactive capabilities needed to improve the viewing experience, earn better ratings, and increase revenue.
Kate Simpson, associate director at Lambert Smith Hampton, and Chris Terry, associate director of Cushman & Wakefield, advised the landlord. Kate Simpson said: “The arrival of Sorensen Media means that Carlyle House is now fully let, with a very strong line up of tenants which also includes WRAP Cymru and Sequence.”
Chris Terry said: “The lettings clearly demonstrate the existing and continued pent up demand from occupiers seeking good quality refurbished city centre office accommodation and fully justifies my client’s comprehensive refurbishment of Carlyle House.”
