German discounter Lidl have now secured planning permission for the development of a 25,000 sq ft store at Carlton in Nottingham, following their recent opening in Bingham, Nottingham.
The site, which was acquired on an unconditional basis for Lidl by David Hargreaves of FHP Property Consultants, sits adjacent to the former Co-op food store on a site of 3.5 acres.
Lidl, who aim to nearly double their existing portfolio of 630 UK stores to 1,200, aim for trade in Spring/Summer of 2017.
FHP have a number of other transactions in the pipeline with Lidl throughout the East Midlands.
