The managing director of Golley Slater PR Wales, Matt Appleby, is to become the next Director of Business in the Community (BITC) Cymru.
Matt leaves after 18 years at the Cardiff HQ of the communications and advertising group, the last eight spent leading its public relations team in Wales. He will join BITC Cymru in July, taking over from Rosie Sweetman, who is stepping down after 10 years at the responsible business charity and three years as Director.
During Rosie’s time as Director, BITC Cymru has increased its network of businesses by over 50% and secured significant contracts, including the Barclays LifeSkills programme and the Welsh Government’s Enhanced Employer Engagement contact, which is enabling BITC Cymru to roll out its successful business/school partnership programme, Business Class, across Wales (in partnership with Careers Wales).
Commenting, Rosie said:
“The BITC Cymru board and team are looking forward to working with Matt to support business with their responsible business practices and showcase the positive contribution business makes to tackling Wales’ social, economic and environmental challenges”.
Amanda Bunn and Annabel Lloyd will take over as Joint MDs of Golley Slater PR in Cardiff, stepping up from their current roles as Associate Directors. Amanda has developed her career at Golley Slater since joining as an account executive in 1997, while Annabel has over 20 years’ experience in communications and marketing consultancy, which began at the agency.
Golley Slater Group Chief Executive, David Longden, said creating the new roles was a natural decision, bringing both stability and opportunity.
“Both Amanda and Annabel have been working alongside Matt to run our PR services for some time, which means they know Golley Slater inside out as well as having plenty of ideas to take our client services forward,” he said.
“They are already a great fit with the teams, and are focused on both developing the PR services and our integrated campaign work with a focus on creativity, delivery and client service throughout.”
