Bridal firm relocates to Maesglas, Newport

Formal Affair and Francesca Bridalwear has relocated in Newport, opening its first out of town location at Unit 18, Maesglas Industrial Estate.

The suit hire and bridal retail outlet has relocated from the city centre to the newly refurbished 2,187 sq ft unit 18. The ground floor has been fitted out as a showroom unit with an integral office set over two floors.

Mr Richard Cook, director at Formal Affair and Francesca Bridalwear, says: “As part of our company strategy, we are now moving out of city centres and relocating to trading estate style premises, where we have the advantage of a much lower rent and rates per square foot combined with plenty of free and convenient parking as well as accessibility through proximity to motorways. This is important as we supply to both the trade and public.

“Widespread use of the internet has changed our business and it has made this type of location much more attractive. Being in close proximity to such well-known names as Screwfix and The Range is also a big advantage in marketing terms.”

The estate is located one mile south of Newport city centre and lies within close proximity to Junction 28 of the M4 motorway. Other occupiers include The Royal Mail Group, Screwfix and Howden’s Joinery. JLL act as sole letting agent and managing agent for landlord, Arundel House Estates Limited, and there are three remaining units available, each of around 2,130 sq ft (200 sq m), one of which has also been extensively refurbished.

Sophie Woodard of JLL commented: “It is encouraging to see that businesses are seeking opportunities in out of town locations and that the demand for trade counter space is still strong. Maesglas Industrial Estate is an ideal location for trade due to its strong transport links and this is illustrated through the estate consistently attracting high profile companies.”
