Leading security provider Octavian Security has promoted a former Army Platoon Sergeant to the position of operations manager, just nine months after joining the company.
Nathan Potter, who joined Octavian as a contract manager in March, has presided over a number of the security provider’s projects around the UK and co-ordinated up to over 100 staff for single clients.
Nathan will work with chief operating officer Jot Engelbrecht on the co-ordination of the company’s operations across the UK, whilst continuing his duties as a contract manager and supporting the rest of the contract team.
Joining the Army in 1995, he was promoted to Platoon Sergeant at Brecon in 2007, where he later trained recruits for service in Iraq. He then worked in the private sector alongside the US Army, securing military outposts in Afghanistan, before joining Octavian, which was his first transition into non-hostile operations.
Tony Mellor, commercial director at Octavian Security, said: “Nathan has been a very effective contract manager, and his various skills from his military career will be put to good use in his new duties as operations manager.
“He has an impressive track record of effectively managing large numbers of our operational staff simultaneously at different sites, and we are confident that his work will further strengthen our services.”
The company has a strong history of employing ex-military personnel, and has become renowned for using ex-Gurkhas for on-site security.
