Freight Systems Express Wales (FSEW), has appointed a new chairman to help drive the company forward.
Anton Woodhouse joins the company with over 40 years of business expertise which he will use to build on FSEW’s current achievements and help ensure the company’s continued success.
Following seven years with C&A, Anton joined retail chain Peacocks in 1979, before becoming a director in 1987. He went on to lead a management buy-out of the company with Richard Kirk in 1997, having grown the group from 19 to 150 stores.
After opening a new distribution centre, expanding the company to 320 stores and floating on the stock market in 1999, Anton retired from the business in September 2001. Since then he has continued to work with a number of companies as a non-executive director.
On his appointment to FSEW, Anton said: “This is an exciting time for FSEW, the company has already built a strong platform for success and I am excited to be with them as they look to take the business to the next level.
“As well as being named the fastest growing company in Wales in 2005, FSEW is in a unique position in terms of its location. Being based at the Freightliner terminal offers an opportunity that no other south Wales freight forwarders have and means that FSEW will be at the forefront of the movement to get freight off the roads and onto the railway.”
Geoff Tomlinson, Founder, FSEW, said: “We’re very pleased to welcome Anton to the team and hope to tap into his vast business knowledge. He will have a very hands on role in the organisation and we envisage him having a very important part to play in the future of the business.”
FSEW, based at the South Wales International Freightliner Terminal in Wentloog, is south Wales’ leading independent intermodal freight forwarder providing transport and delivery services world-wide.
