A business park at South Yorkshire’s expanding international airport is lining up a series of arrivals on the back of a profile boosted by location and connectivity.
Techni Measure has now completed its relocation from Warwickshire to the Fountain Court Workpods at Doncaster International Business Park, next to Robin Hood Airport, and is planning further expansion.
Tim Dodkin of Leeds-based developer Prospect Property Group, said more deals will be announced soon with formalities currently being ironed out.
Craig Gooddy of Barnsdales, Doncaster-based joint agents for Fountain Court along with PPH and LWE, said interest is increasing as a result of new investment in the airport, the Great Yorkshire Way link road and the wider Doncaster area.
Techni Measure was established 45 years ago and supplies sensors and instrumentation from around the world to customers in the UK. Turnover is more than £1 million and growing and the company is also expecting to add to its five-strong team.
Steve Brown, a Doncaster-based director of the company, said: “We have three directors who live in different parts of the country and our business is based on remote working so while we wanted to make sure our new premises were close to at least one director, connectivity is the most important factor.
“Location was not the prime consideration but has already turned out to be very convenient. Within a couple of days of moving here one colleague arrived on a domestic flight and we’re now planning a business trip to Germany flying from Robin Hood Airport.
“Fountain Court was available for us at the right time and it looks right. We are a national business and the quality of this site is right for our image.”
The Workpods development at Fountain Court comprises 22 units of between 1,450 and 1,600 square feet in the aviation-themed Buccaneer Drive, Sea King Drive and Jetstream Drive. The project has been shortlisted in the 2016 RICS awards for Yorkshire and the Humber, with the winners due to be announced next month.
Tim Dodkin said: “The units are very eye-catching and more importantly are built to a very high specification as a result of the investment of almost £2.5 million from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of Europe’s support for the region’s economic development through the Yorkshire and Humber ERDF Programme 2007–13.
“That has enabled us to include superfast broadband and achieve a BREEAM rating of ‘Very Good’. The site is attracting a lot of interest. We’re delighted that Techni Measure have moved in and we have other parties going through legals.”
Craig Gooddy added: “There is a lot going on in and around Doncaster, and particularly at the airport where Techni Measure are already experiencing the benefits of better and more frequent services within the UK and to Europe.
“The opening of the Great Yorkshire Way with its link to the motorway network and to iport is another development which is raising the profile of the airport, and all of that adds to the appeal of Fountain Court and the businesses which are moving in.”
