A social business which invests its profits back into mental health and wellbeing charity Gofal has completed a significant refurbishment of Flexicare Medical’s global headquarters.
PS Facilities Management, part of Gofal Enterprises Limited (GEL), has undertaken an extensive refurbishment programme of the medical device manufacturing company’s 48,000 sq ft purpose-built facility in Mountain Ash.
Works included the fit-out of a new office and meeting rooms, the refurbishment of several toilet and washrooms and an upgrade of the business’s kitchen facilities.
The collaborative project saw the design evolve throughout the build process, with PS Facilities Management working flexibly with Flexicare to ensure the refurbishment delivered exactly what was needed.
The project follows a successful working relationship between both organisations, in which PS Facilities Management has been contracted to undertake Flexicare’s commercial cleaning and facilities management needs for the last two years.
Gareth Davies, finance director of Flexicare Medical, said: “Having moved into our bespoke facility in 1996, we felt it was time to undergo some modernisation and refurbishment works to improve the working environment for our staff and ensure we project the right message to our global customers and suppliers.
“We are delighted to have continued our relationship with PS Facilities Management on this refurbishment project. Since the relationship began they have continually delivered a professional, flexible and reliable service. This refurbishment programme demonstrates our continuing commitment to invest in our facilities here in Wales and support the local supply chain.”
GEL was set up in 2010 to develop and operate a portfolio of socially responsible businesses that invest surplus profits back into Gofal. PS Facilities Management was the first social business set up by GEL in 2011. It provides cleaning, building and maintenance services to organisations across south Wales, including Celtic Horizons, Spindogs, Valleys 2 Coast, Llamau and Broomfield and Alexander.
Matthew Cole, managing director of PS Facilities Management, said: “It has been great working with Flexicare for the last few years. They are a great example of how the private sector can work with a Welsh social enterprise to achieve fantastic results. This refurbishment project is another example of how our flexible approach to fit out can bring the right result for our customer.
“The completion of this scheme marks the start of a very positive first quarter for our business. With expansion plans in the pipeline, 2016 is shaping up to be a very exciting year for us.”
At the end of 2015, GEL revealed it is on the acquisition trail as it looks to increase its position in the market. The business, which is set to grow 150% this financial year with a turnover of £750,000, is targeting £1.8m turnover for 2016/2017 which will be achieved through organic growth and its acquisition strategy. GEL is eyeing up a number of acquisitions, which will range in size and services, to complement PS Facilities Management.
