The UK’s leading specialist in infrastructure support has acquired a prominent Nottingham office building in a deal brokered by national commercial property consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) and Innes England.
Nottingham-based J. McCann Ltd has bought the freehold of the 8,013 sq ft building at 110, Nottingham Road Chilwell. The £565,000 sale was transacted on behalf of Bond Estates. McCann is relocating from its current offices in Sandiacre.
The McCann Group, which has been in business for more than 40 years, supplies street lighting, traffic signs, signals, communications equipment and civil engineering to support infrastructure projects throughout the country.
Continued investment within the business has seen the expansion of the J McCann Group and the award of a number of major projects including work on the M56, A52, A46 and the refurbishment and upgrade of Leicester Square in London, as well as the framework support to Sport England.
Managing director John McCann said, “For the last few years our business has seen tremendous success with a continual strengthening of our brand, both regionally and nationally. Continuation of this growth requires investment in our people and the facilities from which we operate. Our new offices will reflect the image and client base that we have gained in the field, while continuing to support the East Midlands economy.”
The prominent two-storey office building, in a prime position three miles from the M1, was vacant, having previously had multiple occupation.
Director in LSH’s Nottingham office, Phil Quiggin said, “This is a high quality office building in a good location which I am sure will suit McCann’s needs very well. The property had been held as an investment by my client for some years. However the timing is right to move the property into new ownership.”
The purchaser was represented by Innes England and Lumen Management Services.
Craig Straw of Innes England said, “The client’s brief in this instance was to find a modern detached freehold office building with plentiful parking in a convenient location for both the city and motorway. Such properties remain a relative rarity and indeed we had to secure Nottingham Road in competition with others. Working with our client’s lawyer, Andy Matthews of Gateley, a swift exchange was achieved in order to secure the property.”
