CB Richard Ellis has been appointed to market 45,000 sq ft of office space at The Mailbox.
New owner of the mixed-use development, Brockton Capital, has appointed the property consultancy to let the former Post Office sorting office, on a sole agency basis, following a pitch against several other regional and national consultancies.
The space, on level five of the building, is available as a single floor plate but with potential to add additional mezzanine space or split into smaller units. Accessed from within the Mailbox, there is also an opportunity to create a dedicated entrance on Commercial Street.
Existing office leaseholders in the building include the BBC, Virgin Media and Network Rail.
Ashley Hancox, head of regional office agency at CBRE, described the premises as “probably the most flexible and possibly the funkiest space in Birmingham”, which lends itself to an array of possible uses, including IT, media, or shared service use.
The accommodation is available as a shell or fitted out, and has the benefit of diverse cable and power supplies, as well as the ability to cool the premises using the adjacent canal water.
David Zimmerman, partner at Brockton Capital, said: “We have significant capital budget allocated to maximise The Mailbox’s potential as a key destination for Birmingham. We are continuing our comprehensive strategic review of the asset, the results of which will be the basis for developing our overall vision for the future of The Mailbox.”
