Shropshire law firm Linder Myers has completed its commercial team with the acquisition of a company lawyer following its head office take-over of Rowlands Field Cunningham.
The Shropshire arm of Linder Myers continues to expand in 2012 after relocating to new offices at Talbot House, Market Street, Shrewsbury.
The firm’s specialist teams work in all areas of law from personal injury to commercial litigation and the addition of new equity partner Paul Matthews sees the commercial team expand.
The Shrewsbury office now boasts a team of commercial property employment and company lawyers – allowing it to service the needs of all of its commercial clients in the county.
Paul Matthews, who has nearly 20 years experience in the field, specialises in corporate and commercial matters including mergers, acquisitions, management buy-outs, shareholder arrangements, joint ventures, partnership issues and a wide range of commercial contracts including terms of business.
He will work alongside Regional Managing Partner Bill Jarvis and his team.
Bill Jarvis said: “Paul’s arrival completes our commercial jigsaw and we now have a full complement of lawyers to service commercial and business clients’ needs.
“His transactions within the last three months include acting on the sale of the entire issued share capital of a Midlands based IT company and acting on the sale of a majority stake in a North West based company in the confectionary business both transactions involving consideration in excess of £2 million.”
Mr Matthews has also recently acted on behalf of the continuing partners in a firm of chartered surveyors in relation to the retirement of the senior partner and the subsequent incorporation of the business and on behalf of UK based engineering company in relation to a tri-partite contractual joint venture involving technology licenses and manufacturing agreements and relating to the development, manufacture and sale of oilfield services related components.
A member of the Law Society, Mr Matthews trained with Rowlands becoming an assistant solicitor in 1992. He joined Ramsbottom & Co as a solicitor in 1996, rejoined Rowlands in 1998, becoming a partner in 1999 and remaining there until the merger with Linder Myers in 2011.
He said: “My aim is to be approachable, to adopt a commercial approach and to add value.
“I have acted for many of my clients over a period of many years and believe they appreciate continuity and a partner-led service and with a regular presence in Shrewsbury I hope to provide that same service to Shropshire based commercial clients also.”
