Leading national property developers Sladen Estates, in partnership with Peveril Securities, has let a retail unit in Peterborough to American doughnut giant Krispy Kreme – which will serve as the company’s latest restaurant and production hub.
Sladen Estates has begun the construction of the 4,577 sq ft unit at Cygnet Green in Hampton to Krispy Kreme, which opened its first UK store in 2003.
Development director at Sladen Estates, Nigel Jones, said: “We’re delighted to have let this unit to such a well-known and well-loved global firm.
“Cygnet Green has proved to be an extremely popular development. Phases one and two of the project have seen restaurants built for Toby Carvery and KFC alongside a 30,000 sq ft health and fitness centre operated by Peterborough City Council. The Krispy Kreme unit will complete the final plot on the site.”
Located in the new and growing town of Hampton, Cygnet Green compliments the existing retail and leisure offer in the area and is well positioned for connections to nearby expanding housing developments and major road links to the A1. The site was acquired in a deal secured by Krispy Kreme’s retained property agent, Morgan Williams.
The development follows on from Sladen and Peveril’s previous developments at Hampton which include a 48,000 square foot office building for MasterCard subsidiary Access Prepaid and restaurant units for Chiquito, Frankie and Benny’s, Harvester and Bella Italia.
The unit will provide approximately 40 covers, a ‘drive-thru’ lane and a production hub supplying fresh doughnuts to all Krispy Kreme in-store cabinets within a one hour radius of Cygnet Green.
The Krispy Kreme restaurant and production hub will be open in Summer 2016.
