Property consultancy, Lambert Smith Hampton, has promoted Abid Jaffry to the role of ‘head of northern capital markets’.
Jaffry has over 15 years experience in the investment arena and will now head up the business’s capital markets team right across its five offices in the North of England. The move marks a full-time return to his investment roots and he will now coordinate transactional activities in each city.
LSH is investing heavily in seizing opportunities presented by the northern powerhouse, being the UK’s only commercial property consultancy to have an office in the five core cities of Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield and Newcastle. Following his promotion Abid Jaffry will now take forward this key focus of LSH’s growth strategy.
He said of his appointment: “I am really excited about the role. The North’s regions hold so much untapped opportunity and our unrivalled network of offices means we provide the best market knowledge and service to clients.”
Jaffry acted as head of the LSH Manchester office for four years and his efforts are widely attributed to the resurgence and success of LSH’s North West business.
During his tenure, he grew the operation to over 150 people and re-focused the business model which included the acquisitions of niche retail specialist Tushingham Moore and ES Group.
He added: “We restructured LSH at a time when it would have been easier to stick with what had worked previously but we didn’t. We needed to reflect the progressive ethos of the company and the way the market had changed over that time. I am very proud of what we have achieved, doubling the size of the business, but it is now time for a fresh challenge.”
To further strengthen LSH’s commitment to a joined-up approach to the northern powerhouse initiative, the Manchester office will now fall under the responsibility of Matthew Scrimshaw, who will act as head of the north region. Abid Jaffry will maintain a role in the leadership of the Manchester business working with the North West executive team.
David Moore, former senior partner of Tushingham Moore, will continue in his role as head of the North West and lead business development in the region, in addition to his role as national head of retail.
