Coventry and Warwickshire heads for the largest commercial property show in the world next week – ready to showcase the largest amount of development in the area for more than 50 years.
Key developments across the area will be highlighted at the MIPIM event – a four-day exhibition which attracts more than 21,000 delegates.
The Coventry and Warwickshire MIPIM Partnership is made up of companies and organisations which fund the area’s presence at the show which attracts developers, investors and other property professionals from across the globe.
The partnership is hosting a series of events during the event, especially focusing on the role of the automotive industry and that the area’s universities are driving and attracting investment.
The area has exhibited at MIPIM for more than 20 years but Martin Yardley, chief executive of the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership, believes this year’s offer is the strongest ever.
“Coventry and Warwickshire has a very strong record of inward investment and the amount of large-scale development currently underway is proof of that,” he said. “The encouraging factor is that the development runs across our area and takes in so many sectors.
“In Coventry alone there is more than £1 billion of development underway taking in commercial, industrial, residential and leisure development. If you add to that the work currently underway or planned for Warwickshire, then this is a very strong message we can deliver.
“Just a glimpse at the city skyline and the number of cranes on show, confirms that.
“We have above average assets we can offer any potential investor. They include location, environment and quality of graduates, but there is also our track record of working with investors to help them and us make things happen.
“The MIPIM presence this year will be under a Fast Track theme – because we have shown in recent years that we can make things happen and that we are easy to do business with.
“When you are competing on an international stage, attitude of mind is essential and there is now doubt now that Coventry and Warwickshire is known as an area with serious ambition.
“MIPIM is not an event that reaps immediate results but we are there competing among cities from across the UK, Europe and beyond and our partnership approach allows us to punch well above our weight.”
The Coventry and Warwickshire MIPIM Partnership is made up of private sector companies and organisations who fund the area’s presence at the event.
The partners are: Friargate, Jaguar Land Rover, the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership, Barberry, Study Inn, CEG, the Coventry and Warwickshire Development Partnership, HORIBA MIRA, Coventry University, University of Warwick, CityFibre, Wasps, Deeley, Downing and Complex Development Projects.
