A planning application has been submitted for a new 50,000 sq ft manufacturing facility at Hollymoor Point in Rubery.
Hortons’ Estate has applied for planning permission to develop the property on behalf of Aquapak Polymers Ltd, originating from the Adi Group of companies.
The company has agreed a pre-let on the building, taking a 15 year lease.
Aquapak Polymers, currently based in Kings Norton, is investing in the new facility as part of its ongoing expansion plans. The new facility is expected to create up to 70 jobs during the first two years of operation.
Hortons’ Estate, which owns the site, will retain the leasehold investment in its portfolio.
Subject to planning consent being granted, Trebor Developments will use its FastTrack implementation method to allow for completion in quarter four of 2016.
Bob Tattrie, managing partner for Trebor Developments LLP, said: “We are delighted to secure Aquapak Polymers as tenant on this leasehold transaction, which will be complementary to the other phases that have been developed at Hollymoor Point, Rubery.
“The development will meet the requirements for this process driven manufacturing facility and we look forward to working with all parties to deliver this exciting scheme.”
Mike Everard, managing director of Aquapak Polymers, commented: “We’re excited to be working with Hortons’ and Trebor to further our plans to establish a clean manufacturing facility in Birmingham.
“Submitting planning for the development takes us one step closer to production and the creation of new jobs for the city, supporting the regeneration of the area and the wider goals of the Midlands Engine.”
Following the pre-let to Aquapak Polymers and previous developments for NVC and West Midlands Ambulance Service, there is now just over one acre remaining available for development at Hollymoor Point, which can accommodate a 10,000 sq ft facility.
