Queensberry Real Estate has announced that five new retail and leisure brands will soon be opening their doors at Friars Walk. Fashion footwear brand Skechers, and leading leisure operator QLP Superbowl will join recently launched stores including Holland and Barratt, Vodafone and restaurants Wagamama and Zizzi when they open at the 390,000 sq ft retail and leisure scheme in Newport.
Skechers new store will span 2,070 sq ft and sit alongside retailers including Pandora and Body Shop. Originally founded in 1992, Skechers lifestyle and performance footwear offer is now sold in more than 120 countries and will open in Newport on 7 March.
Superbowl UK, the Ten Pin Bowling operator, will open its 18,000 sq ft unit on 18 March. It is the operator’s seventh UK venue and will complement the scheme’s expanding leisure and dining offer, which includes an eight screen Cineworld multiplex cinema and 11 family restaurants.
The new openings follow the announcement last month that New Look Men will join the line-up at the 390,000 sq ft scheme. The retailer has signed for a 1,808 sq ft store which will be the first for the menswear concept in Wales and only the sixth to open nationally.
Stuart Harris, Director and Co-Founder of Queensberry Real Estate said: ” Since Friars Walk opened both footfall and trade has been better than expected, these new openings will complement and strengthen our retail and leisure offer further joining the likes of Debenhams, H&M, Top Shop, Cineworld, Le Bistro Pierre, Loungers, and TGI Fridays. We have been really pleased at how the retail and leisure offer has worked together creating a really strong all day and evening offer for our customers.
Holland and Barrett is Europe’s leading health food retailer with over 620 outlets in the UK and Ireland. For Zizzi, the stylish Italian restaurant chain, this will be its third restaurant in Wales, with both others being in Cardiff. Vodafone is one of the UK’s leading mobile phone operators, and the new store will boast its full offer of mobile data devices.
Friars Walk was made possible by a unique public-private partnership between Newport City Council and Queensberry Real Estate. The open air shopping centre is fully integrated with the neighbouring Kingsway Centre and the wider retail offer in Newport City Centre. The centre will play host to a range of family fun activities during half term week including face painting, balloon modelling, competitions, interactive workshops, popular characters and Capital Street Stars. Daily activities take place 13th February to 20th February 2016.
The letting agents for Friars Walk are Lunson Mitchenall, Cooke & Arkwright, Nick Young & Co and CBRE
