Cushman & Wakefield has strengthened its UK Public Sector Advisory Team (PSAT) by appointing Ian Thompson, an experienced chartered surveyor and former Director of the South West Regional Development Agency.
Ian, who joins as an Associate Director, will provide strategic property advice across the public sector and reinforce core PSAT skill areas including estates strategy and delivery, collaboration, real estate restructuring and organisational review. He will have a particular focus on Local Enterprise Partnership infrastructure programmes and governance.
Ian has managed some of the South West region’s highest-profile regeneration projects including Bristol’s Temple Quay and Harbourside projects, Royal William Yard at Plymouth and the Bristol & Bath Science Park.
Experienced in structuring public-private sector joint ventures working with local authorities, universities and central government, Ian recently advised Heart of The South West LEP on the establishment of its £200m Growth Deal infrastructure programme which funds transport, economic development and skills projects. He was also instrumental in securing the Met Office’s £100m supercomputer facility for his client Exeter Science Park.
Ian Thompson said: “It is exciting to be part of the new Cushman & Wakefield business and to be working with the highly-talented PSAT Team. I am confident that my experience and network of contacts from working on a wide range of property and economic development schemes will add value to Cushman & Wakefield both regionally and nationally.”
Laura Stamboulieh, Director of Cushman & Wakefield’s Public Sector Advisory team, said: “Ian’s impressive track record of delivery within the public sector will be of enormous benefit to our clients and our business. I am very much looking forward to working with Ian to reinforce and expand our strategic property service offering.”
Cushman & Wakefield has begun the year with an influx of talent across the country. These include the appointments of David Smeeton as Head of Investment in Birmingham, Paul Love as a Director of the Project and Building Consultancy team in Cardiff and Adam Pyrke joining as a Director in the Planning team in London.
