The new £60 million Cardiff headquarters of insurance specialist Admiral Group has been shortlisted for a highly prestigious award following its completion by leading property developer Stoford.
The 243,000 sq ft building has been nominated for best ‘Corporate Workplace’ in the 2016 Regional BCO Awards based on the combined merits of its base build and fit out.
Established in 1992, the BCO awards provide public recognition, celebrate excellence and acknowledge best practice and innovation in office space.
Standing 11 storeys high and with three floors of basement, Admiral’s new headquarters is home to 2,900 Admiral employees who have relocated to the office from three other locations. The new build is both Stoford’s and Cardiff’s largest ever pre-let office development and has been awarded BREEAM Excellent for meeting the highest standards of environmental sustainability and energy efficiency.
Tony Nash, director of Birmingham-based Stoford, said: “To be shortlisted for a BCO Award is a true testament to the strong working relationship which has been built with project partners Union Investments, Sir Robert McAlpine and of course Admiral Group. We’re extremely proud of the building and we hope its quality is recognised at the awards in April.”
Huw Llewellyn, property director at Admiral Group, added: “The move to the new building has transformed the working experience for our staff, which is just what we want from our new facility.”
Winners from the Regional Awards will go on to compete in their categories at a national level in October. In addition they will also be given the opportunity to bid for the BCO’s Best of the Best award.
