Manchester will be represented by a record delegation of 99 organisations at MIPIM 2016, the world’s largest international property market event.
This year’s partnership welcomes 36 new organisations, including John Sisk & Son Limited, LCR, Patrizia, and Select Property Group. Some of Manchester’s most exciting developments will be showcased, including Manchester Life, Circle Square, St Michael’s and St John’s.
Manchester’s emergence as a leading world city is being driven by a combination of economic, cultural, educational and transport infrastructure development along with extensive place-making and strong private-public partnerships. The Manchester at MIPIM Partnership will present the investment and development opportunities across Greater Manchester with the goal of attracting new investors and expertise to what is considered the UK’s most attractive regional real estate market.
The 2016 programme is scheduled to be the busiest yet for Manchester. A new set of events, including opportunities for partners to create an event of their choosing, will ensure that the Manchester stand remains a hub of activity throughout the three days of the conference.
Speakers already confirmed include Chris Oglesby, Chief Executive of Bruntwood and Marty Edelman, Executive Chairman of Manchester Life Development Company Ltd.
The city will also once again organise the prestigious MIPIM City Investment Forum, this year focussing on the Northern Powerhouse. Taking a prime slot in the convention’s core programme, the event will see Manchester City Council chief executive Sir Howard Bernstein heading a discussion with colleagues from leading Northern English cities.
Iwan Griffiths, chairman of Marketing Manchester, said: “With the Greater Manchester devolution plan now underway, and the city’s recognition as European City of Science, 2016 stands to be one of the most important years in Manchester’s recent history. As a result, the partnership has a strong set of messages to bring to MIPIM this year, and our challenge is to ensure that we are able to get the most out of these.”
Sheona Southern, managing director of Marketing Manchester, the agency responsible for coordinating the city’s presence at MIPIM, said: “This year’s record-breaking partnership has come about thanks to the strongest ever private sector support for the Manchester at MIPIM contingent.”
Mike Ingall, CEO of Allied London, said: “Manchester’s property market is continuing on its trajectory of steady growth, and this is due in no small part to the successes achieved at MIPIM. The city-region’s consistently strong showing at the event is vital towards establishing the strong private-public partnerships necessary for driving Manchester’s success forward.”
MIPIM takes place from 15-18 March 2015 in Cannes, France.
