Dramatic progress at Friargate is captured in this latest timelapse video.
Station Tower, the final building to be cleared in the first phase of the £100 million regeneration scheme, is flattened, while the first new building can be seen quickly coming out of the ground.
Demolition experts Armac began dismantling the 15 storey Station Tower from top to bottom, floor by floor, in October, and the work finished on January 25. Meanwhile the Bowmer & Kirkland team delivering the inaugural building has been concentrating on forming the central core – which will hold staircases, lifts and service risers – and completing the concrete basement. Deep drainage works and ducting for new service connections have also commenced externally.
Presently towered over by a huge green crane – thought to be the tallest structure in the whole of the city – the new building will be a striking, 13 storey, red-bricked office block designed by internationally renowned architects Allies and Morrison. It will be ready for occupation in 2017 and will accommodate many of Coventry City Council’s office based staff.
Friargate is a proud member of the Coventry and Warwickshire MIPIM partnership, the funding body supporting the area’s presence at the international MIPIM property development and investment show in March. Key development and investment opportunities will be highlighted through a major stand at the event and also through a series of key events.
