Vindis Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles St Ives dealership is to relocate to the Lakes Business Park in St Ives. The company have acquired a 9,000 sq ft unit on a site of just over an acre and plan to relocate from their existing facility in St Ives which will be redeveloped for housing.
The two units at the Lakes Business Park were developed speculatively last year by site owners, Upstream Developments Ltd together with Peterborough based Barnack Estates.
A second unit of 7,000 sq ft is also available although there are two parties showing interest in this according to Alan Matthews, Director of Barker Storey Matthews who are handling the development together with joint agents, Bidwells.
He commented “It has been a great move getting some speculative units built at The Lakes Business Park as it has really focused interest on the site. We initially thought that the smaller unit would go first and we had agreed terms on it last year but unfortunately the sale fell through. Vindis looked at both units but decided they needed the larger one which was capable of modification enabling it to operate as a vehicle dealership. They then acquired some additional land alongside which is to be surfaced and used for the external display of vehicles. Barker Storey Matthews have also agreed terms with another company who initially showed interest in the unit that Vindis have acquired, however it was too small so we have agreed terms to build them a new 11,000 sq ft and a planning application for this has been submitted and is due for determination shortly”.
Steve Fossey, Finance Director of Vindis, said “We have been looking for some time to find somewhere to relocate our St Ives Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle business to and having seen the new units at the Lakes, decided they were ideal for our purpose. Not only did it offer us a good quality unit in a prominent location with easy access to the A14 but we were also able to acquire additional land alongside for external vehicle display. We are looking forward to taking occupation in the spring”.
The remaining unit on the Lakes Business Park which amounts to 6,975 sq ft is available at a price of £700,000. Units are also available to be built to owner’s specific requirements and buildings of up to 100,000 sq ft can be accommodated.
