A former tile showroom in Taunton has been snapped up by specialist furniture supplier HSL following a deal brokered by Colliers International.
Anthony Keohane from the firm’s Automotive and Roadside team located the 2,330 sq ft building on Wellington Road as part of a widespread expansion programme launched by HSL for new outlets across the South West.
He said: “HSL was looking for very specific premises and the tile showroom in Taunton ticked all the boxes including fronting a strategic main road and having proximity to other retailers.”
“We are aiming to acquire twenty plus sites for HSL each year as the firm continues to thrive and expand.”
HSL – which provides a wide range of comfort chairs, recliners and drop-arm sofas with higher seats and lumbar support – already has sites in Exeter and Bristol. The Taunton site has been taken on a 10 year lease with a tenant break in the sixth year.
Anthony Keohane added: “Taunton is seeing high levels of activity with significant deals in and around the town.
“With Hinkley Point C just up the road, these are the sort of high profile deals we are going to see more of in anticipation of the massive investment into the area. Businesses are queueing up to get a foothold now in order to capture the opportunity that brings.”
Local agents Hadfield White represented the owner, a private investor.
