Harris Lamb has started 2016 as it means to go on with the letting of a Worcester shop to a specialist flooring retailer.
Just In2 Carpets and Rugs has taken on the 1,400 sq ft unit on the Upper Tything, and launched its new showroom on Monday Jan 4th.
Lance Turner, of Harris Lamb, who oversaw the letting, said: “The property was turned around extremely quickly – a real sign of how strong the demand for retail space in Worcester is. We purchased the Upper Tything site before Christmas on behalf of an investor, and within six weeks it was let to Just In2 Carpets.
“The business is an established retailer of high quality flooring and wanted a good location benefitting from a prominent position and an established footfall. As a popular and busy retail location, the Upper Tything unit fitted the bill perfectly, providing both a roadside position and a number of established neighbouring retailers.
“Demand for retail properties in Worcester continues to outweigh the available space, so I’m not surprised at the speed that this transaction was completed,” added Lance.
Alison Higgins, director of the business, said: “Upper Tything is a prime location for retailers in the city and we are delighted to have secured a space upon it.
“The business has been planning its expansion for 2016 and the new premises is going to help us fulfill them,” she added.
Just In2 carpets and Rugs was established in 2008 by Alison and her husband Justin. The business has expanded over the past eight years to become one of Worcester’s leading, independent flooring retailers.
Adrian Field, Head of Worcester BID said: “‘We are delighted that Worcester continues to offer a strong appeal to new retail investment. The vacancy rate of retail units in the city centre is now down to just 7.5 per cent, well below the regional and national average and space is very much in demand.”
