Leeds City Region is preparing for the world’s largest property and investment forum, MIPIM 2016 (15-18 March), by announcing the latest private sector sponsors to join its headline partner, Thorpe Park, Leeds, a joint venture by Scarborough Group and Legal and General Capital.
The private sector delegation, which also includes Shulmans LLP and Commercial Estates Group (CEG) has seen its numbers swell following the City Region’s successful attendance at MIPIM UK, with commercial property agents GVA Bilfinger, messaging specialists aql, consultancy firm Arup, planners Quod and investor and developer Town Centre Securities (TCS) all confirming their support over recent weeks.
The City Region’s presence at the international property and development forum and exhibition will build upon the momentum and confidence that has developed over the last 12 months and will focus on delivering ‘smart growth’ for the region. Led by Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP), the City Region will once again co-ordinate a programme of activity that will emphasise the market confidence alongside the investment, development and occupier opportunities that exists across the region alongside a combined Northern Powerhouse strand that is being developed in conjunction with the core cities of the north of England.
Roger Marsh OBE, Chair of LEP, commented: “At MIPIM UK 2015, the City Region’s strong presence highlighted the united ambition of both the public and private sectors; gaining the attention of developers, occupiers and investors from across the globe including China, The Netherlands, Canada and America.
“As we begin the journey to MIPIM 2016 it is clear that working together in partnership, the public and private sectors are making fantastic progress and we can deliver the extraordinary economic growth ambitions that the City Region is striving for and that future generations will be able to benefit from. With that in mind I’m delighted that the City Region’s MIPIM delegation is growing further and now features representatives from across the property sector.”
Richard Bickers, Associate Director at Arup’s Leeds office added: “Arup is delighted to be joining Leeds City Region’s delegation at MIPIM 2016. We are actively involved in a number of the exciting developments taking place across the region including Leeds South Bank, York Central and many of the key transport and infrastructure improvements. Having been based here for over 25 years, we are well placed help set out the size and scale of the opportunities that exist within the Leeds City Region to MIPIM’s audience of international investors, developers and occupiers.
