Barker Storey Matthews Peterborough office has arranged for the sale of a 49,684 sq ft industrial unit in Fengate, Peterborough to Pendragon PLC, who are converting the industrial facility into a motor vehicle dealership under their Evans Halshaw ‘Car Store’ corporate identity.
Pendragon PLC are a multi-national motor vehicle dealership providing a number of different franchise brands including Evans Halshaw, Stratstone and Quicks who collectively have over 200 sites across the UK. ‘Car Store’ is a new, used car brand to the Evans Halshaw franchise name with 40 new stores planned across the UK. Their second hand car range extends from Ford and Vauxhall to BMW and Mercedes.
The site for the new showroom sits on the corner of Fengate and Boongate and was formerly the location of Greentech UK Ltd who Barker Storey Matthews relocated to 23 Wainman Road in November this year. The site sits opposite Magnet Kitchens and adjacent to Topps Tiles and Bathstore.com who are situated on the Peterborough Trade Centre.
The new showroom is expected to include 280 vehicle display spaces, 139 of which will be located within the newly developed building with the rest situated on the enclosed forecourt. Alongside the partial demolition of the unit and the addition of new facades and shop fronts, a vehicle wash and valet bay will also be constructed to service the vehicles.
Richard Jones, Director at Barker Storey Matthews commented, “Evan Halshaw’s Car Store will be an excellent addition to Peterborough’s second hand car market. The sites location in Fengate is ideally situated for a car showroom, providing excellent frontage onto Boongate and Fengate and being situated on one of Eastern Industries busier junctions. The site is also located within close proximity to the Vauxhall, Honda and Maserati garages and the British Car Auctions Site.”
Evans Halshaw Car Store will be opening their new Peterborough showroom in the spring of 2016.
