Grant Thornton UK LLP, which has its East Midlands regional office in Leicester, was once again awarded ‘Global Firm of the Year’ at the prestigious British Accountancy Awards last week, beating all other major firms and following being awarded the same honour in 2013.
The award was voted for solely by the readers of Financial Director who were asked to rate the competing firms based on a number of criteria, including knowledge of sector, innovation, strength of relationships and project management skills.
Commenting on the win, Chris Frostwick, partner and practice leader at Grant Thornton in Leicester, said: “This a great accolade for the firm. It reflects the commitment we make to client service, which I certainly recognise in the team here in Leicester. We spend a lot of time seeking feedback from our East Midlands clients, and it is gratifying that the comments our clients give us locally are so clearly replicated nationally and internationally.”
Sacha Romanovitch, the firm’s CEO, added: “I’d like to thank all the financial directors and CFOs who voted for us to be awarded ‘Global Firm of the Year’ – there’s nothing quite like awards that people who work with us day to day vote for. How our clients experience working with us and the value created from our work is fundamental to why we exist. With 4,500 people in the UK and over 40,000 in the global organisation we’re constantly looking ahead to what our clients need in this global, volatile world.”
“I love seeing the passion that people at all levels in our firm bring to understanding the context our clients are operating in, what’s most important for them right now and how they work with our clients and other colleagues to support them in the UK and globally. My goal is for us to keep challenging ourselves as to how else we can be better. It’s about listening carefully to our clients and also looking into the world to understand the big themes that are needed for a vibrant economy in which we can all thrive. The fact that as a shared enterprise all of our people are actively involved in continuously improving how we deliver is quite special. I hope that with that attitude we’ll continue to deserve recognition like this from our clients.”
Kevin Reed, Editor of both Accountancy Age and Financial Director said: “Grant Thornton should be proud, and rightly so, of scooping the Global Firm of the Year Award. The prize was given after a detailed survey of Financial Director’s readers. In essence, Grant Thornton achieved the highest client satisfaction ratings of the UK’s top six accounting firms.”
“It’s no easy achievement when you take into the account the competition, and is even more impressive as Grant Thornton picked up the trophy in 2013 as well.”
Grant Thornton’s Leicester office has approximately 160 staff providing business and financial advice across Corporate and Personal Tax, audit and assurance, employer solutions, corporate finance, and sustainability, to organisations across the East Midlands.
