Responding to the news of Merseyside’s devolution package, David Lathwood, lead director for JLL in the North West, comments on what the new powers will mean for the region: “As the second potential devolution package for the North West, it’s encouraging to see further opportunities for more powers to reside in the region.
“The councils of Greater Manchester recognised the benefits of hitching their wagon to the economic centre in the heart of the city and Merseyside would do well to follow suit.
“Given some of the strong assets and new schemes on the horizon, including Peel’s £5.5 billion Liverpool Waters development, alignment between the six authorities is clearly the way for the region to maximise on its potential and capitalise as one unified conurbation.”
