Property consultants Alder King have concluded the sale of a prominent retail unit in Merchants House on Royal Wootton Bassett High Street. The property, adjacent to the War Memorial and with good pedestrian access through to Borough Fields Shopping Centre, has been acquired by the local Town Council for an undisclosed sum.
The ground floor unit provides 647 sq ft of retail accommodation and includes a separate store room with kitchenette and toilet facilities. There are two residential apartments above. The High Street is home to established retailers Bassett Books, Geddes Carpets, Primrose Hill Gifts and Tydemans.
Alder King sold the property on behalf of a local private client. Partner James Gregory said: “Our client has owned this property for a number of years and decided that the time was right to consider a disposal. A good level of interest was achieved during the marketing period which acknowledges the demand for good quality properties in sought after locations.”
Philip Loveday, partner at Loveday who represented Royal Wootton Bassett Town Council said: “Our client is actively looking at purchasing strategic properties in the town centre as this ultimately gives them an increased level of control and enables the Town Council to maintain the high standards associated with Royal Wootton Bassett.”
