Unemployment has fallen across Coventry and Warwickshire once again.
The latest figures, released this week show that it dropped from 4,308 to 4,184 in Coventry and from 2,810 to 2,708 in Warwickshire between September and October.
Business leaders across the region welcomed the news but said there was still a great deal of work to be done to match the right skills with the right jobs.
Louise Bennett, chief executive of the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, said: “This is further positive news – for the economy and for all of those individuals who are now in work.
“The trend of falling unemployment is very welcome but to grow and rebalance our economy, it’s important that we continue to look at how we develop the skills of our young people to match the jobs of today and of the future.
“A British Chambers of Commerce survey has once again shown that there is a gap that needs to be bridged between the skills that our young people emerge from education with and the jobs that are out there – particularly in manufacturing and engineering, but right across the board too.
“Locally, I know there is a strong will to close that gap and it is something the Chamber will continue to lead on with our Young Chamber programme.”
