Dan Langford, Director of Wales’ largest recruitment firm Acorn said: “Today’s figures reflect what we’ve been experiencing nationally over recent months, with recruitment levels among our clients across the UK continuing to pick up throughout the year, including the steady increase of placing people into permanent jobs.
“This has been at a time when we have also witnessed steady wage growth but disappointingly, there are still some areas such as in IT, technology, engineering, construction and driving where there are distinct skills shortages, and for which more and more employers in these sectors, here in Wales and across the UK are approaching us for help.
“In Wales specifically, the slight downturn of the last quarter is of course a concern – and none more so than for those individuals who have been directly affected – but as indicated by the 200 or so vacancies we are currently working on for a range of employers, we are hopeful this will be a blip, in relation to what has been a positive trend for the last few years for the Welsh labour market.”
