The social, environmental and regeneration charity, Groundwork South West, have just taken occupation of Lancastrian House, located in the heart of Plymouth positioned prominently on the Derry’s Cross roundabout, one of the principal focal points within the City Centre. Their registered head office still remains at the Millfields.
Groundwork South West is a charityworking on hundreds of projects across the region each year alongside communities, public bodies, private companies and voluntary sector organisations helping people make changes in order to create better neighbourhoods, to build skills, enhance job prospects and to live and work in a greener way.
Louise Atkinson, Groundwork’s Employment Programme’s Co-ordinator said “We have continued to expand over the last 21 years resulting in the need to relocate to larger premises, allowing for further expansion in the future. We are also delighted to announce we will be opening our very first charity shop in Plymouth in Spring 2012 which we are all very excited about”.
Lancastrian House itself comprises 7,233 sq ft of space in total set within a four storey mid terrace building. In terms of layout it offers a retail unit on the ground floor of circa 2,500 sq ft, with office accommodation on the remaining three upper floors.
The letting was negotiated by Vickery Holman’s Plymouth office who, together with joint agents Hartnell Taylor Cook, acted on behalf of the Landlord Beckerly Holdings Ltd to achieve a new ten-year lease which the property owners were pleased with.
A Spokesperson of Beckerly Holdings Ltd said “Having recently been appointed we are exceptionally pleased that our agents were able to secure a single tenant of the calibre of Groundwork South West for the property, and hope that it acts as a catalyst for further lettings within the immediate vicinity.”
Vickery Holman’s Anthony Eke comments, “We were extremely pleased to complete this letting to a charity held with such high regard locally, and hope that this helps them drive all their positive work forward.
Regarding the property itself, this letting should help to breed more life into the west end of Plymouth City Centre through more active use and increase footfall.”
