The retail and dining offer at Intu Derby is getting an International makeover, having secured lettings to Japanese fast food chain Yo! Sushi; standalone cosmetic stores, MAC, and Italian Make up brand Kiko Milano; Australian stationary retailer Bobble Art; and from closer to home, the Treat Kitchen is also making its first appearance in the City.
It will be MAC and Kiko Milano’s first standalone cosmetic stores in Derby, following their recent introduction to Nottingham, at Intu Victoria. MAC benefits from frontage onto the centre’s main womenswear avenues, opposite Zara, Topshop and adjacent to fellow new store, Office, whilst Kiko Milano is located on the ground floor, offering shoppers luxury Italian products at affordable prices.
It will also be the third opening for Nottingham’s home grown sweet specialists, The Treat Kitchen, following great success in Nottingham and Leicester. As well as selling classics such as homemade fudge, rock and boiled sweets, their unique bottled packaging puts an individual spin on their quality confectionary.
Another debut opening for the City comes in the form of Yo! Sushi, the Nation’s definitive Japanese fast food restaurant, who have signed for a mall unit with 80 covers in the main food quarter eat central: also home to Byron Burger, who chose Intu Derby as the place for their second East Midlands restaurant.
The centre has also seen an influx of Australian retailers, being led by stationary specialists, Bobble Art, on the ground floor for their first UK store, around the corner from fellow Australian brand, Smiggle, who put a twist on everyday stationary. Both are surrounded by likeminded quirky stores, such as Copenhagen based variety retailer ‘Tiger’, who now operate in excess of 400 stores over 21 countries.
Alan Pearson of FHP who negotiated the lease comments:
“The rate of new restaurants coming to City has been a driving force into Intu Derby’s evolution, following in the footsteps of the impressive retail offering. Over the past 18 months, we’ve seen a vast amount of activity boosting what’s on offer for consumers and reenergising the City’s economy. We’ve introduced new restaurants such as Byron and Joes Kitchen and stores such as Office shoes, working to source retail and leisure operators that have never before been available in Derby.”
At a time when research from LDC shows that shop vacancy rates have remained at 13%, the amount of new operators being introduced to Intu are coming at an impressive rate, and it doesn’t show signs of stopping, with the centre receiving an annual footfall of 24 million.
