Leading stationary retailer, Staples is set to relocate its ‘Customer Care’ and ‘Business to Business’ sales office in Birmingham after leasing almost 20,000 sq ft of office space within the city.
The company has taken 19,500 sq ft of space on the first and second floors of the Euro Innovation Centre at Aston Cross Business Village in one of the largest deals at the business park in the last 10 years.
Cushman & Wakefield and Harris Lamb acted on behalf of the landlord, Euro Properties Investment Limited (EPIL) to agree the deal whilst Bilfinger GVA represented Staples.
Formerly known as Aqueous 3, the Euro Innovation Centre is located just off Rocky Lane in Aston near to the A38 Aston Expressway. The building, which comprises 30,000 sq ft of office space in total, underwent major works in 2015 including alterations to the exterior fabric and installation of a new air conditioning system throughout.
David Rigby, Associate Director in Cushman and Wakefield’s Office Agency team in Birmingham, comments: “The building was purchased by EPIL in 2014 and had been largely vacant for a number of years prior to this. Following our recommendation to carry out major improvement works to the building we are very pleased to have secured Staples as an occupier.”
He adds: “We now have just 2,500 sq ft available in two ground floor, self-enclosed units at the centre. Aston Cross Business Village continues to attract large companies due to its good quality space, security and proximity to the city centre.”
Mark Hackett, Development Director at EPIL comments: “Having only purchased the property in 2014, we are very pleased to have secured this deal so quickly.”
