Business advisory firm Greenaway Scott has announced the promotion of Jasnoop Cheema to associate within the Commercial and IP team.
In her new role, Jasnoop Cheema, 26, will assist director Rhian Osborne in facilitating the team’s growth and expertise within the life-sciences, healthcare and technology sectors.
Ms Cheema joined the firm in 2013, after graduating with a 2.1 in Biochemistry from King’s College London and completing a Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School.
For the last two years, Ms Cheema has played an instrumental role within the firm helping to develop fundraising and transactional strategies, as well as offering regulatory and compliance advice to clients. She was also recently listed in WalesOnline’s 35 under 35: the highest-flying business and professional women in Wales under the age of 35 for 2015.
While Ms Cheema will continue to work on the firm’s growing client base, she will now also be responsible for growing the firm with its target sectors.
On her promotion, Ms Cheema, said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to have been promoted to associate within just two years of joining Greenaway Scott. It’s a fantastic firm which has been making its mark on the legal sector for delivering high quality, practical, commercially focused legal advice.
“All of the solicitors within the commercial team at Greenaway Scott have a scientific or maths background and I really feel that this helps us understand the markets our clients operate in, particularly the life sciences and technology sectors.
“The firm has grown considerably in the last two years and it’s an exciting time to become part of the management team. I’m looking forward to playing my part in growing the firm further.”
Rhian Osborne, commercial director at Greenaway Scott, said: “Jas has been instrumental to our success over the past few years. Her work within the commercial and IP team has been very impressive and we’re very pleased that we’re in a position to reward her efforts, loyalty and hard work by making her an associate of the company. We’re sure she’ll make a huge contribution to continuing to grow the company in the future.”
Earlier this year, Greenaway Scott announced that it would be expanding into new offices at The Maltings in Cardiff due to increase demand for its services. As part of the expansion, Greenaway Scott will be looking to recruit an additional four employees and will have space in the new office for up to 40 members of staff.
Greenaway Scott provide corporate, commercial and intellectual property advice to companies, with particular sector specialisms in the life science, technology, pharmaceutical and IT sectors. The commercial team is made up of solicitors who are dual-qualified and have either a mathematics or science degree as well as legal qualifications to ensure all advisors have a strong understanding of their clients’ markets.
The firm focuses on the provision of sharp, practical, commercially focused legal advice to businesses and advises clients on spin-outs and commercialisation, brand and intellectual property protection, commercial contracts and trading agreements, mergers and acquisitions and equity investments.
