The first phase of a new £3 million mixed-use site in Ancaster is set to be completed by Christmas with Co-op taking a 3,000 sq. ft. Convenience Store. The former petrol station site on Ermine Street was acquired in 2013 by developer Wheatcroft Land, working in partnership with TPS, the property development specialists.
Planning permission was secured in May 2015 and the teams have been on site since June, when the old buildings were demolished. Construction work is on programme for completion in November 2015 with the Co-op scheduled to open before Christmas. The development will also deliver 14 two-bed and three-bed houses.
The delivery of this 1.1-acre site is an important progression of the TPS business from its consultancy base into direct development and is the first project undertaken by Wheatcroft Land since newly appointed Director, Catherine Haward, decided to resume the company’s development activity. Catherine said: “Wheatcroft Land undertook numerous developments during the 1990’s but over the past ten years has concentrated solely on managing its investment portfolio. This development is the start of our return into this area of the market”.
Jamie Bunce, Director at TPS commented: “We have worked closely with Wheatcroft Land on the Ancaster site for two years now, the first of a number of developments between the two businesses going forward. It is pleasing to see the Co-op store progressing well on site and this will be a valuable addition to the local community when it opens later this year with the 14 two and three bed houses following next year.”
TPS and Wheatcroft Land continue to actively look for similar opportunities in the area.
