SafeLives, a national charity dedicated to ending domestic abuse, is relocating to new offices at Whitefriars, a landmark building in the heart of Bristol city centre, in a deal brokered by leading property consultancy JLL.
The charity is moving from Maxet House, in Baldwin Street, Bristol, as a result of the conversion of its previous premises to housing.
SafeLives has taken 3,312 sq ft of space on the second floor. The deal means that Whitefriars is now 90 per cent let.
Whitefriars comprises a total of 138,000 sq ft and includes a range of on-site facilities including a refurbished café, a gym, a mezzanine meeting area and a secure underground car park.
Kate Hollick, of JLL in Bristol, said: “The recent letting to SafeLives is further evidence of the demand for good quality, affordable space within Bristol city centre. Whitefriars offers tenants excellent on-site facilities, a prime location, flexibility and affordability. Since the refurbishment of a number of office suites we have seen increased interest in this site and can offer refurbished space from 1,500 sq ft.”
Since the beginning of 2014, eight lettings have been secured at Whitefriars totalling 41,691 sq ft, including a letting to Whitefriars Business Centre which has recently opened.
Ben Ryan, director of asset management at Topland Group, the landlord of Whitefriars, said: “We are delighted to welcome SafeLives to Whitefriars, meaning we are now close to capacity – not bad considering we bought the building three years ago when it was just 60% let. The building can now offer a full range of refurbished space from a single workstation in our serviced office (Whitefriars Business Centre) to a suite of 5,235 sq.ft.
Whitefriars is conveniently located very close to Bristol Bus and Coach Station, offering staff easy access to work. Meanwhile, Cabot Circus and Broadmead shopping centres are just a short walk away. Bristol Temple Meads railway station is just over a mile away and provides direct routes to London, the Midlands and the South West. Whitefriars also has direct access to the M32.
